Apple's new iPad arrives in 30 more countries this weekend

Soon, people in 30 more countries around the world -- including Argentina, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates -- will be able to get an iPad, bringing to nearly 90 the total number of countries that sell the tablet.
Cheerleaders for Apple's iPad can get out their pom-poms (and perhaps their passports). As of this weekend, the new iPad will be available in 30 more countries, including Brazil, Botswana, Cambodia, Malta, Mauritius, and Qatar, according to MacRumors. Apple's Web site lists 13 countries in the Caribbean and Latin America and says, "the new iPad is arriving in these countries on May 11th." MacRumors did some further digging on the tech company's country-specific store pages and found that 17 other countries will be selling thetablet as of this weekend (see full list of new countries below). This brings the number of countries where the iPad is available to nearly 90. Just a couple of weeks ago, Apple brought its tablet to India and eight other countries. And right before that, the company started selling iPads in 12 more countries, including South Korea. Brazil is the country of note in this most current launch because it's where Apple is starting up iPad production with its manufacturing partner Foxconn. The Brazilian government granted a batch of tax and other financial incentives to Foxconn in January, which helped push the Apple manufacturer to move some of its production facilities from China to Brazil. According to MacRumors, the new iPad is still waiting for certification to be sold in China, Honduras, Indonesia, Nicaragua, Paraguay, and the Philippines. For now, Apple is promoting the iPad 2 for sale in those countries, saying on its Web site that the older version is "now more affordable than ever." New countries: Argentina, Aruba, Bahrain, Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, Cambodia, Chile, Costa Rica, Curacao, Ecuador, Egypt, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Jamaica,Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Madagascar, Malta, Martinique, Mauritius, Morocco, Peru, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam. wholesale accessories, iphone accessories, ipad accessories, ipod accessories

iPhone 5 Specs: Smart Haptics for Flexible OLED Screen Could Come to Next Apple Phone

Do you remember YOUM - the official name for Samsung's flexible OLED display? The new display technology isn't featured in Samsung Galaxy S3, but it could see the day of light on the highly-anticipated Apple iPhone 5 along with smart haptics system. As figured by Patently Apple, the Cupertino tech giant has filed a new patent for multi-tiered haptics system. The technology is currently utilized in an array of touch-enabled devices like robotics and video game controllers. It is also used in most of smartphones, but is a quick vibration. Apple seems to take the game to next level by combining flexible OLED display technology with multi-tiered haptic system. "A control system of a tiered haptic system may determine the amount of pressure, force, displacement, or other physical response associated with the user stimuli. For example, a tiered haptic system may distinguish between relatively light contact and a relatively heavy contact on the screen surface. In some embodiments, a tiered haptic system may perform particular tasks depending on the physical response of the stimuli," said Apple in the patent filling. The new technology can open a gate to the future. On iPhone 5, each letter on the on-screen keyboard can pop-out from the surface of the screen. While the screen will return to normal flat level when user finishes typing and exits keyboard. Another interesting thing that the patent indicates is possibility of a 3D display in the upcoming iPhone. According to the report, the new technology will actually allow an iGadget display to contort, as a result the user with be provided with a button, an arrow or even a geological map to physically pop right out of the screen to give it 3D depth. The report about advanced haptics technology is not a new case for Apple as it is the third such patent filed by Apple (following first in March 2011 and another in March 2012). Just before the launch of new iPad, several reports confirmed that Apple will integrate the new touch technology in third generation iPad. However, Apple seems serious about haptic systems this time as focused on a multi-tiered system. Do you think we could type on 3D Keyboard in iPhone 5? The box below is waiting for your comments. wholesale accessories, ipad accessories, iphone accessories, ipod accessories

Upcoming iPhone 5 release getting nearer

The iPhone 5 will be one of the most significant releases of this year and will end much anticipation as to what technical features or specifications the handset will offer. However, in the time leading up to its release it is still possible to ascertain from the widespread rumours and the iPhone 4S features as to what this handset may bring. The handset is most likely to look similar to its nearest predecessor although one rumour has suggested that the Retina display may be increased in size from 3.5 inches up to 4 respectively. This would be more advantageous especially as more people move to the iPhone for its Game Center providing gaming along with those who love to watch movies and TV shows on their smartphone. Gaming is already taking off for the phone series as the Center enables you to find friends and make new ones in order to play form a wide range of games. This social gaming is likely to get better still for this handset especially as it is about to come to the Mac desktop environment also. For example you can play games such as Chess with a friend on your phone or invite someone you do not know to play against you, the leader board then displays each of your results. The iPhone 5 will also possibly bring the launch of the next iOS operating platform which the handsets, as well as iPad and iPod Touch, are all running. This would be iOS 6 and as we have seen particularly with new releases in this phone series, a totally new number tends to mean a totally new iOS number as well. This would all coincide nicely with a new processor as well, and with other manufacturers now releasing quad core powered phones are Apple going to only move to dual core or go the whole way? This is the same question for the main camera, which we would assume to be at least 12 megapixels and accompanied by a dual LED flash. What is for sure is that full High Definition video will be possible. Having looked at some of the possible features of the iPhone 5 it is clear that it will be the next best thing for any phone user to have. Less certain is what exactly the next best thing is going to consist of, but if any of these rumours are true, it will be something great. wholesale accessories, iphone accessories, ipad accessories, ipod accessories

Samsung Galaxy S3's Reign Over? iPhone 5 Features, Rumors

The battle between Apple and Samsung has intensified with Samsung's latest unveiling of the much awaited smartphone Galaxy S3. Apple is now under pressure as its next generation iPhone 5's launch is around the corner. Will it be able to stay ahead of its direct competitor Galaxy S3 in terms of innovative technology? "The Galaxy devices helped Samsung overtake Nokia Oyj as the worlds' top handset seller for the first time in the first quarter and regain the lead in the $219 billion smartphone market from Apple. Samsung is introducing a range of Galaxy phones to gain market share and compete with Apple, whose latest iPhone was unveiled seven months ago," according to a report by Bloomberg. In its latest smartphone, Samsung Galaxy S3 features a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display powered by Android 4.0 with Ice Cream Sandwich. It comes with an 8MP rear camera and 1.9MP front camera which offers a variety of intelligent camera features and face recognition related options. Samsung remains at second place, however, its smartphones and android products sales is increasing and is all set to capture Apple's top position. Samsung was reported to have earned about $5 billion and could be eating away at Apple's market share until an iPhone release date is announced. With the unveiling of its latest smartphone Galaxy S3, the company hopes to expand its share of the market with their latest generation Android products. Though Apple has not revealed a launch date for the iPhone 5, features like 4G LTE connectivity powered by a 1.5 GHz quadcore A6 processor are keeping demands high. The iPhone 5 is also speculated to include 1GB or RAM, retina display of 1280 x 720 resolutions, and innovative Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Apple may look to introduce its new liquid metal material into the future lineup of iPhones. The iPhone 5 could see its glass casing replaced with a liquid metal casting that offers strength and scratch resistance. The material will also give the device a liquid smooth finish and gives Apple more flexibility to create unique body shape designs. Recent news of Apple's filed claim to control the domain iphone5.com ahead of its launch which is likely to happen during the World Wide Developers Conference in June or in October. With Apple not yet revealing the possible name of the new iPhone yet, rumors of being called iPhone 5 has been on for quite sometime now. However, there are also possibilities of Apple calling the next iPhone simply "new iPhone." "Apple's pursuit of the iPhone5.com domain is interesting given how slow the company has been to take action to secure domains related to its previous products. Apple didn't gain control of iPhone4.com until nearly a year after that device launched and Apple didn't seek to gain control of iPhone4S.com until several weeks after that device debuted last October," writes MacRumors. wholesale accessories, ipad accessories, iphone accessories, ipod accessories

iPhone 5 Release Date Looms as Apple Fights Domain Name

As the iPhone 5 release date looms, Apple has found itself in the news for specs & features, lauch dates, and other rumors. However, the latest on Apple is not about when the handset will launch. The company has moved to seize control of a fan-based website which is used for Apple enthusiasts to discuss rumors and news about specs, features, and launch information. Apple has filed a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) that challenges the ownership of the pandaoo.com domain name. The site hosts a forum where Appleites brainstorm about what the next Apple smartphone features, specs, and design will be. Surely fans are also speculating about the iPhone 5 release date, which could be another reason Apple wants to snag the website—apart from thewebsite name being exactly the same as the rumored name of the next Apple smartphone. In the past Apple has paid for domain names which are closely related, or right on point, to a product or device they offer. Apparently they no longer wish to dish out money to people who are snapping up domains which are clearly named after their products. The iPhone maker instead chooses to use the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) to claim domains which violate Apple trademarks. Other domains which Apple has disputed over include pandaoo.com,ipadiphoneaccessories.com. It sounds like Apple fans may soon be losing one of their well-loved sites. Surely they will find another suitable place where they can hash-out all the iPhone 5 release date rumors, news, and gossip. wholesale accessories, iphone accessories, ipad accessories, ipod accessories

Samsung Galaxy S III vs. Apple iPhone 4S: It's Tough to Compare

When Samsung, the new world leader in mobile phone shipments, introduces anything, a glance to the Apple iPhone is a natural response. When Samsung introduces a phone that in all likelihood will be the summertime blockbuster of Android phones, holding Samsung against Apple—or the iPhone 4S against the Galaxy S III—becomes more of a compulsion. The sizes of the devices is notable: the iPhone 4S, with its 3.5-inch (diagonal) display measures 115.2 by 58.6 by 9.3mm, while the S III, with a 4.8-inch display, measures 136.6 by 70.6 by 8.6mm. Still, the iPhone weighs 140 grams to the S III's 133 grams. Apple has its Siri assistant, which users can ask to do things like send emails while they're jogging or use to remind them about an appointment or birthday. The S III has S Voice, more of a presence than an assistant, that's waiting, anticipating and literally watching. Still, measuring up the two smartphones anymore seems silly. Apple is preparing to refresh the iPhone later this year. So, it is the unknown iPhone 5 that the Galaxy S III will be more properly compared against. Though, according to reports coming out of Samsung's London event, the Galaxy S III will arrive in the United States later this summer, while by most accounts the newest iPhone won't arrive until the fall. Could consumers waiting for a new iPhone, or at least its introduction, hurt Galaxy S III sales? In the fast-moving mobile market, it's anyone's guess. "If nothing else, Samsung's GX3 has provide a target for Apple to aim at with the iPhone 5," Charles King, principal analyst with Pund-IT, told eWEEK. "The S III's display size, CPU and RAM are all significantly superior to Apple's current generation iPhone 4S, and may well come to represent the 'table stakes' required for vendors to play in next-gen smartphones." Plus, King added, Samsung included expandable memory and a replaceable battery in the S III. "Neither Apple nor HTC offer those features at this time, and it seems to me that both features will become increasingly important as smartphone vendors focus on 'media-enhanced' features and user experience," said King. “Seeing how Apple, HTC and other vendors respond will say a lot about their strategic evolution the confidence they have in their own product development efforts." Roger Kay, principal analyst with Endpoint Technologies, notes that it's important, when comparing Apple and Samsung, to distinguish between segment domination, where Apple is the clear leader, and phone shipment numbers, where Samsung offers a greater range of price points. "If you keep your eye on the money, it's still Apple by a couple of lengths. But Samsung is giving Apple a run for its money on technology and integration," said Kay. "So, this intense rivalry should continue for the next couple of years." Analyst Ken Hyers, with Technology Business Research , told eWEEK he's feeling conflicted about the Galaxy S III, which seems to be a result of Samsung top brass taking the kitchen-sink route, throwing in everything they could imagine, but there's the Galaxy S III's crazy size. "Anyone who wants to put one in their pockets will first have to sew some oversized pockets onto their clothes," said Hyers. Though, for 2012 at least, he expects it will be the iPhone of the Android community. "The overly attentive software will probably repel a certain minority of customers, who will be either bugged by the fact that the device is overly complicated, or will be creeped out by the way the Galaxy S III watches and anticipates what users want..." said Hyers. "But most folks will love the new software, which will make them start doing things with their smartphones that they never even thought about doing before they bought the Galaxy S III.” wholesale accessoriesipad accessoriesipod accessoriesiphone accessories

iPad Makes Up 95 Percent of Tablet Web Traffic

The iPad secured 68 percent of the tablet marketduring the first quarter, according to recent stats, so it should come as no surprise that most of tablet-based Internet traffic is coming from Apple's gadget. But just how much traffic? According to data from Chitika, the iPad accounts for almost 95 percent of all tablet Web traffic. "In conducting this analysis, we queried our vast ad network for impressions stemming from a tablet of any sort. From there we sorted our data into categories of the various tablet devices," the company said in a Friday blog post. "As we had hypothesized, the iPad was overwhelmingly dominant versus the competition." What about the remaining 5 percent? The Samsung Galaxy Tab made up 1.22 percent, followed by the Asus Transformer Prime, Motorola Xoom, BlackBerry Playbook, Amazon Kindle Fire, and the Barnes & Noble Nook, which landed at 0.53 percent (click chart below for more). "In defense of the Nook, it is used primarily as an e-reader, with the capabilities of a tablet," Chitika said. Though NPD DisplaySearch said this week that Apple's tablet market share will drop to about 50 percent in the next five years, Chitika said manufacturers will be "hard pressed to find a way to overthrow the seemingly omnipotent Apple." "Not only do they offer a great product they have the undying devotion of their enthusiasts," Chitika continued. "Thus far Apple's iPad offering has been able to thwart any attempt by competitors to develop a rival (or even equivalent product). Apple produces a product that is both aesthetically pleasing and technologically robust." Rivals can't just throw in the towel, though. "Increasing market share will be imperative for all tablet producers in the future if they want to remain competitive," Chitika said. "The tablet has become an increasingly popular computing device and it seems evident that this trend will be persistent in the future." Chitika suggested focusing on Asia, which has a "penchant for Android operating systems."
The DisplaySearch report estimated that shoppers will soon choose tablets over laptops. "As the market matures and competitors become better attuned to consumer preferences and find opportunities to break new ground, we expect the landscape to change dramatically, giving consumers more choices, which will drive demand for more devices," Richard Shim, NPD DisplaySearch senior analyst, said in a statement.
