Nokia Lumia 920 vs Apple iPhone 4S – fight
The long-awaited iPhone 5 might be set to dethrone the iPhone 4S onSeptember 12th – but that just means you'll be able to snap up an iPhone 4S for a bargain price. Nokia's hoping to make you think twice before pocketing Apple's proven iPhone, so let's see what the Finnish mobile giant has brought to the table with the Nokia Lumia 920.

Nokia Lumia 920 vs Apple iPhone 4S – design and build
Apple's iPhone 4S is nearing its first birthday but it's still oozing with sophistication thanks to its impeccably built solid aluminium and glass design.
The Nokia Lumia's eye-catching polycarbonate unibody shell, however, comes in a veritable rainbow of bright, refreshing hues – and its durable construction should mean you don't suffer the painful and all too common iShatter effect when you eventually drop it.
Nokia Lumia 920 vs Apple iPhone 4S – screen
The Nokia Lumia 920's pixel-packed 1280x768 resolution places it just a few pixels-per-inch short of the infamous iPhone 4S Retina Display – an impressive feat considering that it's a whole inch bigger.
With automatically adjusting colours and anti-glare tech to boot, the Lumia 920's IPS LCD display should do justice to Windows Phone 8's bold colours and crisp clean lines – your eyes will like what they see.
Nokia Lumia 920 vs Apple iPhone 4S – OS and power
There's no denying that iOS trounces the Windows Phone Marketplace in the apps department, but we expect to see an influx of apps hitting Windows Phone 8 once Windows 8 and Windows RT are released in late October.
If you're locked into the Apple ecosystem with iTunes and have a horde of iDevices gracing your abode then it will be hard (and a little scary) stepping into the Microsoft camp, but with fancy new indoor navigation, more live tile functionality and screenshots to boot, the Nokia Lumia 920 is set to be the most polished Lumia device to date.
The original Lumia 800 and 900 were zippy enough, but we couldn't help feeling a little let down by their single-core processor firepower – but the inclusion of Qualcomm's 1.5Ghz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor in the Lumia 920 should keep Windows Phone 8 running smoothly.
Nokia Lumia 920 vs Apple iPhone 4S – camera
Apple's justifiably proud of the impressive detail and clarity it's achieved with the 8MP camera sported by the iPhone 4S. Nokia is hoping to challenge it with its PureView labelled 8MP sensor, which can collect up to ten times more light than its competition. Plus its floating lens tech reduces motion blur in low-light pictures, and an array of Lens apps makes image editing a cinch. The Nokia Lumia 920 may not sport the monster 41MP sensor found in the Nokia 808 PureView, but it's by no means a dissapointment for shutterbugs.
Nokia Lumia 920 vs Apple iPhone 4S – verdict
Apple and Microsoft. iOS and Windows Phone 8. You couldn't ask for a greater contrast in the mobile arena and both the iPhone 4S and Nokia Lumia 920 offer enough features to whet the appetite of any mobile aficionado.
Whether or not you're willing to place your faith in future Windows 8 apps, there's no denying that in the Lumia 920, Nokia has created a colourful, exciting handset that is well worth your consideration when eyeing up your next pocketable mobile companion. Isn't competition wonderful?
