iPhone 5 vs. iPhone 4S – comparison of displays and front panels
After prototypes and photo leaks, we now have a detailed comparison between the front panels of the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5.
Everything we see in the video gives the impression that Apple has stretched the iPhone 5, giving it a larger 4-inch screen.
The width of the device is the same, but the distance between the display and the button home has been reduced, as well as that between the screen and the speaker / FaceTime camera.
In addition, the front panel of the iPhone 5 is 0.1 mm thinner than that of the iPhone 4S, making the new device longer by about 14mm, and also more resistant to scratches.
Finally, the hole for the Home button has a diameter that is 0.3 mm smaller, a sign that Apple could change the future device button and not ditch it all together.
Changes will be hardly noticed by users, except the screen, but they will count a lot when it comes to device’s thickness or weight.
