LG Optimus LTE2 vs Samsung Galaxy S3: Will the LG Smartphone Battle Against New Galaxy?
On 17 May LG unveiled its latest Optimus LTE2 which will be the world's first smartphone to reportedly offer 2GB of RAM. The company has announced that the device will be available in Korea starting this week. There is no official announcement about the worldwide release of the new LG smartphone. Probably, the specs of the device appear to be powerful which could be a tough challenger for Samsung Galaxy S3.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 is a feature-packed smartphone which includes Smart stay, Direct call, Smart alert, Social tag and S voice. It boasts a powerful processor, large screen and internal storage variants.
Here iss a rundown of how the smartphones stack up:
Display
The LG Optimus LTE2 touts a 4.7in True HD IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The screen offers multi-touch functionality. It integrates new User Interface, Optimus UI 3.0 that provides features like face recognition unlocking and widget size control.
In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S3 flaunts a 4.8in Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It includes Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and TouchWiz 4.0 UI.
Processor
The Optimus LTE2 is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU and Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon chipset.
In contrast, the Galaxy S3 is powered by a 1.4GHz Cortex-A9 quad-core CPU and an Exynos 4212 quad chipset. It includes Mali 400MP GPU.
Camera
Both smartphones have an eight megapixel rear-facing camera featuring auto-focus, LED flash, geo-tagging and face and smile detection. Users will have the ability to capture video of 1080p.
The Samsung smartphone offers support to a secondary camera of a whopping 1.9 megapixel, while the LG smartphone has a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera.
Operating System
The Optimus LTE2 runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, while the Galaxy S3 runs on Android 4.0.4 ICS.
Storage
The Optimus LTE2 has onboard storage of 16GB and 2GB RAM. It comprises a microSD card with an additional memory of 32GB.
The Galaxy S3 has internal storage options of 16/32/6GB and 1GB RAM. It packs a microSD card slot with an additional memory of 64GB.
Connectivity
The LG smartphone features Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and support to Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and LE.
In comparison, the Samsung smartphone includes Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and offers support to Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and EDR.
