A US iPhone 5 Release Date Before the Samsung Galaxy S3?
Long before either device ever came close to becoming a reality, the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5 were already declared the undisputed heavyweight Smartphones of 2012 – not to mention the millennium so far. There was never any doubting the way in which both would simply annihilate the competition, with the Galaxy S3 carrying the torch for the astonishing S2 and the iPhone 5 eventually coming along to carry on the legacy of the 4S.
Of course, the debate as to which of the two well and truly deserves the top-spot rages on today just as fiercely as ever, though the Samsung Galaxy S3 has one distinct advantage – that being that it actually exists, if only in Europe. This follows the Galaxy S2 almost exactly one year down the line as expected, meaning that all Galaxy-devotees waiting patiently will be rewarded as and when they hoped.
However, if we cast our minds back to the launch of the last year back on home soil, it remains unclear as to whether or not the Samsung Galaxy S3 release date will face the same delays and perhaps not arrive until long after the summer becomes a distant memory. The only word from Sprint, AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile is that the S3 is expected over the summer, but this could mean as late as September.
As such, there really is every possibility that the iPhone 5 release date could arrive before the Galaxy S3 sees its official US launch, which would of course wreak havoc with Samsung’s potential performance.
Regardless of the specs and the prowess displayed by both, Samsung has an astonishing opportunity to swallow up a huge share of the market over the course of the next few months, simply in light of the absence of any confirmed iPhone 5 details. One of the main causes of Apple-devotees straying to the Android side of the fence has been ongoing delays and infuriating silence – both of which are expected to continue with regard to the iPhone 5.
So, the very worst thing Samsung could do is to follow suit with the Galaxy S3 and see its own loyal-followers drifting off to the iOS camp, which experts agree is precisely what will happen if both devices continue to exist only in the realms of fantasy for the US market.
Needless to say, all eyes are now on Apple’s WWDC 2012 next month to see if an iPhone 5 release date becomes anything closer to a reality.
