Supersized Samsung Galaxy S3 Coming This October
With the Samsung Galaxy S3 featuring an Exynos quad-core 4212 processor, which has speeds of 1.4GHz per core, it has been benchmarked as the speediest smartphone processor currently on the market. The chip uses elements of the architecture of the ARM Cortex A9 processor, outshining the Snapdragon S4 which is dual core, and even the Tegra 3 which is quad-core. This shows how far it has come since the Exynos dual core 1.2 GHz processor on the Galaxy S2.

The display has also improved. The S2 was 4.3 inches and had a 800x480 pixel resolution, compared to the 4.8 inch 1280x720 pixel resolution on the S3. They both have Super AMOLED screens, but the S2 has a Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touch screen, as opposed to the S3’s Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen. Finally, the S2 has 217 ppi pixel density, to the S3’s 306 ppi.
The Galaxy S2 was impressive, but the S3 is the most powerful smartphone without a doubt and signs of what kind of smartphones Samsung is expected to bring to the market this year.
Now onto the Galaxy Note and its potential successor. There are reports that Samsung is looking to launch an improved version of the Note, which has sold in excess of 7 million devices. The new Note is reported to expect a 5.5 inch screen, 0.2 inches larger than the current Note which is 5.3 inches, and could potentially hit our shelves in October 2012. The base of the Note 2 will be the S3 features, and thus we are expecting it to look similar and have the same apps like S Voice, SmartStay, etc, reports NBF.
The 5.5 inch display is expected to have WSXGA+ (1680x1050), with 360 pixel density, along with a Super AMOLED display. In order to help the device last longer, the screen will come from the Pentile matrix family. These also tend to use power more efficiently.
It is likely that the CPU of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will be at least 1.5 GB and maybe even 2GB of RAM, with potentially an Exynos 5250 chipset. We also expect 4G connectivity and Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) despite rumors of Android 5.0 Jellybean.
With 8 MP, the camera is also expected to be a winner, with an enhanced lens and image sensor, leading to better quality pictures. The stylus will naturally remain in the Note as its signature.
