iPhone 5 Release Date Reveal New iPhone 5 Concept Picture

iPhone 5 Release Date
The iPhone 5 release date speculation moved along this week with Jonny Evans at Computerworld talking about how an iPhone 5 release theory gains momentum with news of Apple winding down orders on the current iPhone model, as reported originally through DigiTimes. Jonny is good to point out that DigiTimes has been known to be wrong, but if we look objectively at their track record, they’re sometimes right while being at the forefront of news that brings good clues to an iPhone 5 release date. Digitmes is saying that the new iPhone feature of a a thinner screen based on newer in-cell touch technology means that manufacturers like TPK and Wintek are winding down production of the current iPhone due to the demands of a new iPhone 5 release date. Whether or not they’ll retool for a new iPhone release is unclear. Here’s what the DigiTimes article had to say:
“The adoption of in-cell touch, which results in the touch layer becoming part of the panel rather than an independent module, will mean that touch module suppliers such as TPK and Wintek will be no longer able to receive touch module orders for the next-generation iPhone, added the sources.”

iPhone 5 rumors this week doubled down on the bigger iPhone screen again, with iLounge talking about a longer and thinner iPhone 5, thus creating more real estate for the screen. iLounge says it will get thinner too, thanks in part to the use of Gorilla Glass 2, which allows for a thinner screen while making it stronger at the same time: “the new iPhone will indeed be longer and thinner than the iPhone 4 and 4S. Approximate measurements are 125mm by 58.5mm by 7.4mm—a 10mm jump in height, nearly 2mm reduction in thickness, and virtually identical width. According to our source, Apple will make one major change to the rear casing, adding a metal panel to the central back of the new iPhone. This panel will be flat, not curved, and metal, not ceramic.” Check out iPhone 5 concept pictures at iLounge.
There are other interesting iPhone 5 pictures at International Business Times, who picked up images of an iPhone 5 concept created by Antonio de Rosa in Italy. He created a concept he’s calling the iPhone Plus, which you can see in the image above. The smart thing that Antonio did was to take existing iPhone 5 rumors about possible features and specs, and work them into his iPhone 5 concept. Liquidmetal body casing, pico-projector, A6 Quad Core processor and and a new dock connector all figure into his cool, highly-detailed concept. iPhone 5 Features and Specs
To reiterate where the iPhone 5 features and specs are at from recent weeks, here’s a quick rundown of current favorites: Siri looks ripe for an upgrade, as Apple seems to be banking on the Siri technology a lot for future use. The processor debate is split between those that think the the new iPhone 5 release will include a new A6 processor, while others are more inclined to believe that the A5X processor in the new iPad 3 will be used. 4G LTE connectivity seems practically assumed by now, as not using it would be a major step backwards compared to other smartphones. The idea of a pico projector saw popularity this week, with Antonio’s iPhone 5 concept images mentioned earlier. This concept was introduced by the Samsung Galaxy Beam, and seems like a great way to present photos, videos and documents through an iPhone rather than asking a group to gather round’ the iPhone screen to look at a small screen. iCloud and iTunes are due for an upgrade, as a new iOS6 as well. Recent talk of an iTunes redesign as well as an iTunes streaming service has the rumor mill burning. What iPhone 5 features would you like to see? What side of the iPhone 5 release date do you fall on: Summer or Fall?
