iPhone 5 Will Actually Be “The New iPhone”
It looks like Apple have decided not to give numbers anymore to their iOS smartphones, just like it happened with The New iPad: iPhone 5 will be called “The New iPhone.”
Because the fifth generation iPhone was actuallyiPhone 4S, Apple is reportedly ditching the numbers in the name of their devices. Beginning with this fall, any customer who will ask for an iPhone 5 in the Apple Stores will be “warned” that the actual name is the “New iPhone,” or maybe just “iPhone,” writesGizomodo.
Apple’s new marketing strategy also has a psychological component, as the products without numbers in their name are getting closer to the car makers’ philosophy, who are keeping the same name, adding the year of debut.
The latest rumors regarding the iPhone 5 release date are talking about a launching event scheduled for September 12th, with the smartphone becoming available for purchase on September 21st.
There’s no day passing by without leaks about Apple and iPhone 5! This is how the tech blogs looked over the past few weeks and after we’ve seen an assembled iPhone 5 the other day, today we found out about the official iPhone 5 launch event. Sources close to the Cupertino-based company confirmed that Apple have planned a media event for September 12th, which might include the announcement of a new iPhone.
Moreover we’ve learned that the terminal will become available for purchase only 9 days after the official announcement, on September 21st. If the rumors are true then Apple would launch the New iPhone one month earlier than we initially expected. The first rumors were pointing that the iPhone 5 will be announced in October.
So far, websites like iMore, TheLoop and AllThingsD are confirming Setpember 21st as iPhone 5 release date, suggesting that the rumors might actually be accurate. This year the new iPhone will have a fierce rival, Samsung Galaxy S3, a smartphone that is already a best-seller. Over 10 million Samsung Galaxy S3units have already been shipped since it debuted in May.
It was already speculated that the 4-inch iPhone is already in production and that is was assembled, sporting a Retina Display that overpassed the 3.5-inch threshold, a repositioned audio jack, 19-pin dock connector, larger speakers on the bottom edge of the device. Rumor has it that the iPhone 5 will have a two-tone back case.
As usual, we recommend you to be a bit skeptical about the rumors that hit the web, but if I were in the shoes of an Apple fanboy, I would start make savings.

Top Features iPhone 5 Need to Beat Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2
Samsung finally overtook Apple in terms of mobile phone sales and market share with the release of its 2012 flagship phone - Galaxy S3. This could be a big threat to the latter company if Samsung can widen the gap with imminent release of Galaxy Note 2.
Apple used to be on top of the world with its highly-acclaimed iOS devices. However, the two tech companies are now neck to neck and competition is more intense.
In the recent report of research and analysis firm IDC, Samsung sold a total of 50.2 million units and reached a new quarterly smartphone shipment record in a single quarter. What remains to be seen is how the company's smartphones will fare against Apple's next-generation iPhone expected later this year
"Samsung and Apple have quickly become the global smartphone heavyweights though both employ somewhat different approaches to the market," said Kevin Restivo, senior research analyst with IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker.
"Samsung employs a 'shotgun' strategy wherein many models are created that cover a wide range of market segments. Apple, in contrast, offers a small number of high-profile models. While both companies have expanded their geographic presence in pursuit of market share, the two companies will inevitably come into greater conflict as both try to generate additional gains," Restivo quickly added.
Below are some of features that iPhone 5 must include in its handset in order to beat Samsung's big guns, including Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2.
Color Design - Since the release of the first iPhone, Apple sticks to its business-like and minimalist design. This proved to be attractive to professionals and business persons. However, younger generation still prefers colors other from the staple black and white hues of smartphones.
This proved to be an advantage to Samsung which first used candy colors in its Samsung Galaxy Y. In the new Galaxy S3, Pebble Blue and Marble White are hot colors of the flagship phone that are selling like hotcakes.
Apple needs to improve the design of its new smartphone in order to widen its market. Younger and hip generation would prefer hot colors.
Screen Display - There is a rumor that iPhone 5 will have a larger screen display finally abandoning its 3.5 inch screen. However, the rumored 5.5-inch screen of the Galaxy Note 2 will dwarf Apple's display. Samsung Galaxy S3, on the other hand, sported 4.8-inch screen.
Bigger is not always the better. However, Samsung Galaxy S3's bigger screen is perfect for movie lovers who would like to watch flicks in their smartphones.
Camera - iPhone 4S's 8 megapixel camera is pretty good. However, Samsung is rumored to be packing a 12 MP shooter on the upcoming Galaxy Note 2. How will Apple top that? It is like bringing a DSLR in your smartphone.
Connectivity - Samsung Galaxy S3 is already equipped with 4G/LTE capability. iPhone 5 is speculated to be having this same feature. When iPad 3 was released earlier this year, it had problems when its advertised that 4G/LTE connection as one of its main features but found out that it was incompatible in the 4G network in some countries like Australia.
Processor - Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is rumored to be equipped with 1.6 GHz quad core Exynos processor, which is faster than 1.4 GHz Exynos processor of the Galaxy S3. Apple's A6 chip has to be faster than this in order to move ahead in the competition.
We just have to wait for Apple's announcement for its iPhone 5 to see if it will be able to close the wide gap that Samsung has created in the recent quarter.

What the Apple iPhone 5 Needs to Beat the Samsung Galaxy S3
It should just be a short while longer before Apple unleashes its next-generation smartphone, the iPhone 5. However, Samsung’s remarkably successful Galaxy S3 would pose a tough challenge to the iPhone 5, considering the “overwhelming demand” for the South Korean company’s latest flagship. As such, Apple has its work cut out for it if it wants to keep its standing on top of the high-end smartphone marketplace.
The rumors of a thinner chassis are a pretty good start. If the Cupertino-based firm indeed uses in-cell technology that integrates the touch screen into a single display panel, the sixth-generation iPhone could be as thin as 7.6-mm, a full millimeter thinner than its Korean competitor.
We haven’t heard firm rumors on the camera, but the next-generation iPhone should feature an equivalent or better snapper than the Galaxy S3. Apple could either bump up the maximum resolution of the iPhone’s camera, improve the optics to capture better images or both. Either way, software improvements to integrate many of the Galaxy S3 camera’s features should be a given. The front-facing camera should also be updated to match the Samsung’s 1.9-megapixel unit.
Behind the screen, the iPhone 5 should have a quad-core chipset to compete directly with the international version of the Galaxy S3. While the North American Galaxy S3 doesn’t come with the quad-core Exynos chipset, quad-core Android handsets are expected to arrive later this year. If Apple doesn’t stick in a quad-core chipset, a higher-clocked dual-core processor should be on the cards.
Likewise,4G LTE connectivity should be available. Considering that many of the top-selling smartphones in the United States are compatible with these increasingly widespread high-speed wireless networks, Apple should add in this capability to compete effectively.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 And IPhone 4S Boasts Excellent Web Browsing Features
As web browsing devices, smartphones are now better equipped than ever before. The iPhone 4S has long been one of the most popular smartphones available, and is highly regarded for its web browsing capabilities. However, a number of other manufacturers have recently released their 2012 flagship smartphones, giving Apple’s iconic device a run for its money. In this article, I will compare the browsing capabilities of the iPhone 4S with those of the Samsung Galaxy S3.
In order to provide the best internet connection based on factors such as local network coverage and signal strength, the Apple iPhone 4S utilises a couple of different connection methods. When using a data connection provided by your network’s coverage, data download speeds of up to 14.4 MB per second are achievable. This means websites load rather quickly, and you will also notice that streamed data such as YouTube videos load and play with minimal buffering, and downloads of apps and email attachments will be fast. When users have access to a Wi-Fi network, an even faster connection is available, and this also has the added benefits of less battery consumption and it will not use up your data allowance or incur any charges, should you have such restrictions on your contract. Because the iPhone 4S runs iOS which is Apple’s smartphone and tablet optimised platform, it has the well known Safari app as its default web browser. This is the smartphone optimised version of the popular desktop web browsing package and shares many of its features, but there are several alternatives available for download from the AppStore.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has already proven to be a popular choice, allowing in the footsteps of its predecessor and Samsung’s former flagship, the Galaxy S2. It uses the same connection methods as the iPhone 4S, however when using a 3G connection, faster speeds of up to 21 MB per second can be achieved, which is among the fastest available on a mobile device. The Samsung Galaxy S3 utilises the latest version of the popular Android operating system, and the Samsung TouchWiz user interface runs over the top of this providing the default web browsing application. This has all the features that you would expect, however if you wish to download alternatives like Google Chrome orMozilla Firefox, simply visit Google Play where you will find many such titles.
Because the Samsung Galaxy S3 also has a powerful quad-core processor and a much larger screen than the iPhone 4S, on paper many will see this as the superior web browsing device. However, the iPhone 5 is due to be released later this year, so the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S3 will certainly face tough competition.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 vs iPad Mini?
Two rumors, two tablets (but one can call and send messages), Apple reportedly launching iPad Mini in September, while Samsung will start selling the Galaxy Note 2 next month.
Phone? Tablet? Nevertheless, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the iPad Mini will vie inside the world of tablet computers this quarter according to a slew of new rumors.
According to iMore, as confirmed by credible Apple news source All Things D, Apple will start selling the iPad Mini in September, exactly on September 21st according to iMore and consumers will get a glimpse of it on September 12.
Citing unnamed sources who requested anonymity but “proven accurate in the past,” iMore posted this morning that Apple will hold an event on the 12th of September, and it will announce the next iPhone and the smaller iPad. Analysts and tech sites and other IT experts call the smaller iPad the “iPad Mini,” but it is plausible that Apple will use a different name.
iPad 7 maybe?
Apart from the iPad Mini, the new rumor also suggests that Apple will also announce a new iPod Touch, and will also formally announce the iOS 6 and possibly release it before the release date of new devices.
But before the iPad Mini and the iPhone 5 event by the end of the current quarter, Samsung will try to wow us again with a new product, and sources has confirmed that Samsung will again launch a new smartphone, theSamsung Galaxy Note 2.
For starters, the Galaxy Note line features a larger display and supports capacitive stylus pen — that’s why Samsung Group is calling it the “Note” right? Anyway, the new device will reportedly include a larger 5.5-inch display, around 0.2-inch bigger than the older version. It will also include a new processor, new design and new camera sensors.
The question now is, can Samsung sell more Galaxy Notes amid all these new smaller tablet computers?
For instance, Google’s new Nexus 7 is possibly the most popular Android tablet computer to date based on numbers floating online whilst quoting sold out stores including Google’s own Play Store. Smaller tablets like the Nexus 7 or possibly the iPad Mini, are arguably shrinking the market share territory of larger smartphones like the Galaxy Note or the unannounced Galaxy Note 2.
Last year’s Galaxy Note has proven that 5 incher smartphones have their own market. According to Samsung, it has sold 7 million Galaxy Notes worldwide, smaller than the Galaxy S3 and its 10 million sales record in less than 60 days, but still respectable.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 vs. iPad Mini: Apple to Release Tablet to Prevent Samsung Skyrocketing Sales?
Apple is speculated to release a 7-inch iPad Mini to battle head on with Samsung's much awaited device, Galaxy Note 2, in the coming months.
Who would need a "phablet" when you can have the best tablet in the market? t Apple is rumored to be working on a smaller tablet - iPad Mini, which is expected to be released later this year.
Apart from the iPad Mini, rumors suggest that Apple will also release the new iPhone 5, which promises to close the gap between rivals Apple and Samsung created by the latter's Samsung Galaxy S3.
According to iMore, consumers will have a glimpse of the device on a media event set on September 12 and Apple will star selling the devices on September 21.
Reports say that the screens will feature indium gallium zinc oxide panel technology. This seems possible since Apple included Sharp in its line of suppliers for screen panels. Currently, 60 to 70 percent of screen panels are supplied by Samsung, with the rest shared by LG Display and Sharp.
However, as Apple's Chinese components manufacturer Foxconn Electronics has recently made investments in Sharp, Sharp is expected to see its proportion rise to 50 percent for the upgraded iPad.
One of the problems of iPad is its battery life that quickly runs out due to the user of various apps. Thus, the news of improved battery life is good for iPad users.
Nevertheless, if there is truth to this rumor, the new iPad would probably be released along with the new iPhone in the fall. Moreover, it is enough to ripple through the component supply chain and stir up the many tablet PC OEMs and vendors trying to emulate Apple's success with me-too products of their own design.
But before the iPad Mini and the iPhone 5 event by the end of the current quarter, Samsung will try to wow us again with a new product, and sources has confirmed that Samsung will again launch a new smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is rumored to have a gigantic screen and features that will surpass the current Samsung Galaxy S3.
In the recent report of research and analysis firm IDC, Samsung sold a total of 50.2 million units and reached a new quarterly smartphone shipment record in a single quarter that widen the gap between Apple and Samsung. What remains to be seen is how the company's smartphones will fare against Apple's next-generation iPhone expected later this year.
"Samsung employs a 'shotgun' strategy wherein many models are created that cover a wide range of market segments. Apple, in contrast, offers a small number of high-profile models. While both companies have expanded their geographic presence in pursuit of market share, the two companies will inevitably come into greater conflict as both try to generate additional gains," said Kevin Restivo, senior research analyst with IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker.
Apple is slowly bringing out its big guns due to the threats imposed by Samsung devices that gradually gaining popularity as well as Google's new tablet and new mobile operating software.
We just have to see how Apple will be able to climb on the top of the ladder in the tech market.

Galaxy S3, HTC One X, EVO 4G LTE And Galaxy Nexus: The 4 Best Smartphones To Buy Right Now
About a month ago, I listed three amazing, top-of-the-line smartphones that you should not buy. To summarize that article, in quick and handy bullet points:
- The iPhone 4S is a whip-fast little thing, with the best camera and deepest selection of quality apps of any smartphone; but it lacks next-generation 4G LTE connectivity, and a new 4G iPhone is expected this September.
- The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx packs unmatchable battery life into an Android 4.0 device; the weak camera and dull display that drag it down, however, should be amended in an upcoming "Droid Razr HD."
- The Nokia Lumia 900 is an inexpensive, easy-to-use smartphone running the dead-simple Windows Phone operating system; Microsoft's recent announcement that no current Windows Phones will be upgraded to Windows Phone 8 or any full-future release means that you should wait until WP8 devices are out this autumn/winter.
The Droid Razr Maxx, iPhone 4S and every Windows Phone device are out of the question for the savvy shopper, in other words. So what smartphone should you buy, if you're looking for a fast and modern smartphone that won't be semi-obsolete in two months? If you can't wait for the "iPhone 5" or the "Droid Razr HD" or the "Nokia Lumia 910," which currently available smartphone do you purchase?
Here are my recommendations. Given imminent updates to iOS and Windows Phone devices, all of my recs are Android phones; compared to iOS and Windows Phone, Android necessitates a certain level of comfort with technology. Real novices or casual smartphone users are better off waiting for the autumn, and for the new iPhone and crop of Windows Phones:
Samsung Galaxy S3
Perhaps you've seen the (completely omnipresent and unavoidable) ads: Samsung's Galaxy S3 has arrived in the states, with a gleaming 4.8-inch AMOLED display and some of the fastest smartphone processing available. Heavily advertised features like S Voice (Siri wannabe), S Beam (NFC sharing between GS3s) and SmartStay (display stays bright as long as your eyes stay on it) come up short, but the speed of the phone and that gorgeous display make Samsung's third Galaxy S a charm.
Carriers: Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular
Price: $199 with two-year contract at Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, U.S. Cellular; $279 with two-year contract at T-Mobile
HTC One X
The pundits at tech site Gizmodo maintain that the HTC One X is the best Android phone out there, and it's easy to see why they are so enamored: The One X's 4.7-inch display is lovely and responsive, and while it can't match the Galaxy S3 in speed, the superb camera of the One X challenges the iPhone 4S for the smartphone photography crown. Due to weak sales (presumably), the price of the One X has also recently been cut to $99 from $199 (on two-year contract), meaning that the One X is one X-cellent purchase (sorry). Without punning: It's a relative bargain at $100 on contract.
Carriers: AT&T
Price: $99 with two-year contract

HTC EVO 4G LTE
Sprint just turned on its 4G LTE network, which means that the 4G LTE smartphones it's been selling can take advantage of the faster speeds. That means that the EVO 4G LTE -- the only smartphone with a built-in kickstand -- is now as fast as it should be (in select cities). Like the One X, the new EVO boasts a gorgeous display and deluxe camera; and though the design has proven hit-or-miss for some, it's certainly an eye-catcher. Next-generation noise reduction during voice calls is also built in, though it's unclear when Sprint will power up its networks to handle that feature, or how well it will work in practice.
Carriers: Sprint
Price: $199 with two-year contract

Google/Samsung Galaxy Nexus
It's almost 8 months old at this point, and its display and camera shrink when compared to those of the current iPhone, Galaxy S3 and HTC One phones. The Galaxy Nexus, however, is still a treat, especially if you don't like the "skins" that manufacturers like HTC and Samsung load onto their phones. The Galaxy Nexus is clean, simple Android, without the obnoxious clocks or bloatware; plus, it already has Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean," an update that seems to have made the Galaxy Nexus run faster than on the day it was released back in December. And here's the real selling point of this aging phone: The Galaxy Nexus is now free on Verizon. An updated Nexus phone isn't expected until the end of 2012 or beginning of 2013, so if you're looking for pure Android with the latest operating system updates, the Galaxy Nexus remains a rational purchase.
Carriers: Verizon; Sprint
Price: Free on Verizon with two-year contract through Best Buy; $99 with two-year contract on Sprint
Read the Engadget Review
A certain amount of anxiety comes with buying a new smartphone: What if the newer model, with the better camera and crisper display and newer operating system, is unveiled right after you swipe the credit card? With the four phones listed above -- the Samsung Galaxy S III, the HTC One X, the HTC EVO 4G LTE, and the Galaxy Nexus -- you should be able to relax. Nothing indicates an imminent update to any of these smartphones, as each should remain its company's flagship for several months to come.
As for the iPhone 4S, the Droid Razr Maxx and the Lumia 900 -- well, don't look now, but improvements to those models are right around the corner. Hope you saved your receipt.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 4S vs HTC One X pricing comparison
A price war is underway among South Africa’s mobile network operators, with Cell C and Vodacom trading punches in both the pre-paid and contract arenas.
After introducing price plans with a single 99c per minute call rate, Cell C announced its new “Straight Up” contracts in early June 2012.
These new contracts from Cell C were launched on 22 June 2012 and offered any-time voice minutes, SMS and MMS messages, and data in an easy-to-understand structure.
Vodacom responded by launching its own all-in-one “Smart Plans” on 7 July 2012, though the structure of the network’s offering was somewhat more complex than that of Cell C’s “Straight Up” contracts.
With these new packages on the market, it is interesting to see how the prices of the high-end smartphones compare on South Africa’s cellular service providers.
The table below shows how the pricing of the iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy S3, and HTC One X compare on a few of the available contracts:

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Windows Phone 8 handsets: Specs, features comparison
Both are poles apart and Windows Phone 8 handsets are still to land in the market. But here we compare Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Windows Phone 8 handsets and their specs and features
Within less than two months after its launch, Korean technology behemoth Samsung has sold ten million units of Galaxy S3. This is a major achievement and shows that Samsung has really become a challenge for Apple, the manufacturer of leading smartphone brand iPhone. To be true, the way it is zipping past all Android manufacturers and increasingly competing with Cupertino based Apple, shows clearly as to why Apple is fearful of it. Neither Motorola is a credible threat to Apple’s supremacy in smartphone market, nor is HTC or RIM for that matter. Samsung has emerged as the only and true threat to Apple and the dominance of its iPhone brand.
Samsung’s latest Galaxy S3 smartphone has left even Samsung bosses bemused. Within fifty days’ time, the company has sold more than ten million Galaxy S3 units alone. It is the best performance of any Galaxy Smartphone and Korean company is hoping that it is able to cross twenty million mark within four months.
But Galaxy S3 is not just competing against Apple’s iPhone. In the coming days it will have to face very tough competition from other companies, particularly smartphones running on Windows forthcoming OS Widows 8 phone handsets.
Though there is no fixed date for the introduction of Windows 8 phones, but there are reasons to believe that Microsoft fans wouldn’t have to wait for the product for very long. The Redmond-based Microsoft last month unveiled the firmware, which will arrive on new handsets in a while. Microsoft has not yet cleared on which device the new firmware will first appear. Anyway, we compare Galaxy S III with an expected top-end Windows Phone 8-based handset to help a new customer choose the best device possible.
We are going to compare the two products taking some prominent attributes that are almost feasible in both the handsets (Galaxy S III and Windows Phone 8 handset). Of course, in several aspects, Microsoft attempts to compete with the latest phones of the market, mainly Samsung’s top-notch handsets and Apple’s iPhone.
Great start screen
Microsoft is going to give great options to users of its smartphone when it comes to an unconventional start screen for your handset? If you want to be able to make start screen as you want it to make, you should wait until a handset comes out with the Windows Phone 8. The new software from the Redmond firm comes with far smarter tile-like icons, which can be resized as per your choice. Well, Microsoft has added more size options for the icons with the update. Now you can choose from small, medium and two wide sizes for more interesting smartphone experience. Moreover, you can also choose from various colors for the tiles. This is a feature you can’t enjoy on Galaxy S III that runs on Google’s latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The firmware, though made simple and smooth, has a traditional interface and start screen.
Choice of Hardware
Like Android smartphones, Windows 8 phone handsets will be manufactured by multiple tech companies. Microsoft doesn’t produce handsets; it only distributes the firmware for product makers. But, for the first time in Windows Phone’s history, Microsoft has added support for multicore processors including dual and quad core chips with the Windows Phone 8. Its predecessor Windows Phone 7.5 Mango only supports single core chips, which was thus set by Microsoft to increase battery life. As per Microsoft, first devices with the new software will come with 1.7GHz dual core chips, i.e. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Plus in other words. In future, quad core devices will also come up with the Windows Phone 8. Samsung Galaxy S III, in the meanwhile, is a quad core smartphone. The company has launched the device with its own Exynos 4212 Quad quad-core chipset and advanced Cortex-A9 processor clocking at 1.4GHz. The handset gets its graphical power from a Mali-400MP processor, which will also make the device competitive to Wind
There are reports that Galaxy S3 is all set to get Google’s latest Android Jelly Bean firmware. Right now it comes with Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean is going to make it a lot more desirable. To be true, some analysts have counted the Galaxy S III as one of the best handsets you can get. On the other hand, Windows Phone 8 is expected to enrich our experience with the new line of Windows handsets. We still have no clear idea about the potential Windows handsets. But, it is sure that the new handsets will offer an entirely new experience for smartphone users thanks to Windows Phone 8.
Microsoft is hoping that its smartphones start getting people’s attention with the introduction of Windows Phone 8. To date, Microsoft’s Windows Phone has been well received by critics, but hasn’t yet managed to make a substantial dent in U.S. smartphone sales, falling to just 4.4% of all U.S. smartphone sales in March, according to comScore. Google’s Android OS, meanwhile, has hovered around 50% of all U.S. smartphone sales, with Apple’s iOS at about 30%. There are reasons to believe that Microsoft may be well on the mark this time and people will love its smartphones running on Windows 8 phone.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 rumors include 5.5 inch display: release date mystery
It is going to be bigger and better. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 rumors include 5.5 inch display, though its release date still remains a mystery
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or next generation Samsugn phablet is going to be bigger and better. At a time when smartphones are coming with almost the phablet size, we shouldn’t be surprised by reports that Galaxy Note 2 will be bigger than the one in circulation with 5.3 inch size. The next version of Galaxy Note will come with at least 5.5 inch display and many improved features compared to existing ones.
Meanwhile reports confirm that Samsung’s Galaxy Note will be released as early as October. So should we expect a showdown between Apple’s much publicised and anticipated iPhone 5 that is also expected to be released in October? But, to be true, I don’t anticipated any competition between an iPhone with around 3.5 or 4 inch screen and a mammoth Galaxy Note with 5.5 inch display. Both belong to different genres and neither Note 2 will affect iPhone 5 sales or iPhone will affect Galaxy Note sales.
But still, the competition will be between iPhone 5 and a Samsung Phone. Galaxy S3 is going to pose stiff challenge against Apple’s next generation phone as it has everything that Apple may come up with in its next gen smartphone.
But there are many who suggest that phablet will pose a threat against iPhone 5. A report says, “Such a head-on battle would definitely make a lot of sense for Samsung, given that the first Galaxy Note was different enough from the rest of the Android pack to actually draw in customers that aren’t huge Android OS fans, such as non-hardcore iPhone fans. But a more obvious question also arises: are the officials from Samsung bold enough to enroll in such a full head-on battle with Apple?”
But even if Galaxy Note is not competing against iPhone or similar other smartphones, the Note 2 will come with many unmatched features. It is already selling like hotcake and with tremendous improvements in the next generation phablet, many people will think twice before going for smaller smartphones with higher price and similar or even lower specs. The Note 2 is expected to come with a quad-core processor, an unbreakable plane display (UBP is a precursor to flexible displays) of more than 5.3 inches in diagonal, a bigger battery and a sturdier build. Another attraction in the 5.5 inch smartphone/ phablet with be Ice Cream Sandwich.

iPhone 5 - Top Features Needed to Beat Galaxy S3
It seems there is a huge clash of titans coming up since Samsung Galaxy S3 has already captured the smartphone market after snatching away the crown from Apple. After seeing a rage for Galaxy S3, Apple has, according to rumors, pre-scheduled the launch of its next-gen iPhone, aka iPhone 5, to create an equal stand with Samsung. However, to win this smartphone battle, it's a must that iPhone 5 offers features that are at par with Samsung's flagship Galaxy S3, if not better.
Looks
As per the rumors, Apple will utilize the in-cell touch technology that will make the iPhone 5 thinner as compared to other smartphones since the iPhone 5 is in direct competition with Samsung Galaxy S3, which boasts a 4.8 inch super AMOLED display. iPhone 5 is expected to be just 7.6mm thick, a full millimeter less than the Samsung Galaxy S3, which is 8.6mm thick. It is also a pretty safe bet to assume that the iPhone 5 will come with at least a 4-inch display to stand equally with S3.
Camera
iPhone 5 needs an improvement on the camera front to be ahead in the race. The 8-megapixel rear-facing camera on the iPhone 4S is every bit as good as the one in the Galaxy S3 so any improvement on that characteristic will surely put iPhone 5 ahead of Galaxy S3. However, if Apple does opt to stick with the same resolution, optics needs to be improved so as to offer a greater sharpness and clarity. S3 has great camera features such as zero shutter lag, and best shot selection. Hence, it is a must for the iPhone 5 to mimic such features, in the same way that Samsung has offered S-Voice, which imitates Siri. The front-facing VGA camera also needs improving to match the 1.9-megapixel in the Galaxy S3.
Under the Hood
Galaxy S3 leads the way when it comes to smartphone performance. Using Samsung's Exynos 1.4GHz quad-core processor, Galaxy S3 is one of the most powerful smartphones to date. iPhone 5 thus needs to be powered by an overclocked quad-core processor to take the battle to Galaxy S3.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 runs on the TouchWiz interface with Android 4.0 OS, which offers an excellent user experience. iPhone 5 will run on iOS 6, the latest mobile OS from Apple. It is expected that Apple will take the spoils in this area as, when it comes to user-friendliness, iOS takes the cake.
iPhone 5 is also expected to come with 4G LTE radios, and make good use of the 4G networks which are being rolled out by various network operators in the U.S.
Conclusion
It goes without saying that iPhone 5 will undoubtedly be the biggest smartphone release of the year (well, for Apple fans at least) but Apple has a lot of work cut out if it wants the sixth generation iPhone to beat Galaxy S3.

Processor - Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is rumored to be equipped with 1.6 MHz quad core Exynos processor, which is faster than 1.4 MHz Exynos processor of the Galaxy S3. Apple's A6 chip has to be faster than this in order to move ahead in the competition.
We just have to wait for Apple's announcement for its iPhone 5 to see if it will be able to close the wide gap that Samsung has created in the recent quarter.

IPhone 4 Vs IPhone 4S – So What’s The Big Deal?
As long as Apple continues to deliver a consistent and cohesive environment, the iPhone junkies will continue to flood in. The software upgrade to OS was a stellar improvement and iPhone 4S was given enough improvements to keep it competitive well into 2012 – or that is until iPhone 5 blows it away.
So, can you use the same iPhone 4 chargers, cases, headphones, headsets or any other accessories for iPhone 4S? Yes you can. Almost all of the accessories are compatible for the two iPhones. For instance, almost every case out there could fit both iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s. Not only cases - universal accessories such as Bluetooth, FM Transmitters and Car Holder Mounts also work with both iPhones.
Should you run out and buy an iPhone 4S? If you are in the market for a new smart phone? Absolutely. Not only is this smart phone powerful (and quickly diminishing your need for a computer), iPhone 4S is loaded with features, easy to use and takes great pictures and video. It is also available on a wider variety of carriers, which makes it more accessible to more consumers.
Much of the new features of the iPhone 4S are due to iOS 5, a major system update that includes iMessage and the updated notification system. These changes are significant, and not to mention fabulous, an update that gives every Droid a run for its money. However, did we mention you could upgrade your iPhone 4 to the exact same software? That's right. Plug your iPhone 4 into your local iTunes for a good 30 minutes and receive the same upgrade.
? Same design – for you trend setters, shop for artistic cases, who cares about an identical looking phone?
? Same screen – not only in size but in resolution
? Same amount of RAM
? Siri has a hard time bonding with people outside the US
? Not only can you snap more photos and longer videos, you will avoid 1080p playback problems
iPhone 4 – I’m Just Fine Thank You:
? Dual-core processor and 7 times more powerful GPU
? Siri – Not only does she learn your personal voice, she follows commands and can send a text message with dictation
? 8MP camera with improved low-light performance and capture speed
? 1080p video capture with stabilization
? GSM / CDMA dual-mode device
? Let go of your death grip thanks to dual antenna design
? 64GB option
? Power-efficient Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity
iPhone 4S – The Big Deal:
Well, to help you on-the-fencer’s decide, we have compiled a list to compare these two (we must admit) amazing Apple products.
So, have your friends been racing out to upgrade their iPhone 4 to the iPhone 4S? Or, are you an iPhone virgin and debating on going with the cheaper iPhone 4? After all of the hype, and later letdown — the new addition of Siri to Apple received an underwhelming response. Who cares about the beefed up hardware? Is it really that different? Are the iPhone 4 accessories compatible with iPhone 4S? Can you use the same iPhone 4 chargers, cases, headphones, headsets, or any other accessories with iPhone 4S as well?

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. What Is Known And Rumored About The iPhone 5
The recently launched Samsung Galaxy S3 has been the first true competitor to the Apple iPhone, with around 10 million units already sold through July. The Galaxy S3 features some technologies not found in Apple's current iPhone 4S, and many Apple consumers are waiting for the iPhone 5, so it makes better technological sense to compare what will be the two must-have smartphones of 2012.
Keep in mind, Apple has not confirmed that the iPhone 5 even exists, so all of the information here about the iPhone 5 has been based on previous leaks, photographs, and industry analysts.
Samsung Galaxy S3
Let's begin with the phone that's already out .
The Samsung Galaxy S3 uses a quad-core processor to run the Android operating system Ice Cream Sandwich, although it is slated to receive the latest Android version update, Jelly Bean, soon.
It comes with a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED screen displaying at a resolution of 1280 X 720 and reviews of the display have been positive, with one user posting on a previous LatinosPost article:
"The S3 is an amazing device with a beautiful display!"
The Galaxy S3 is equipped with an 8 megapixel camera that can also record at 1080p. The smartphone also supports 4G LTE and comes with NFC capabilities for wireless data sharing.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 usually goes for $199 for the 16GB model and $249 for the 32GB model with standard two-year contracts.
The (rumored) Apple iPhone 5:
The iPhone 5's release date has been pegged around October, based on current industry activity.
Apple's iPhone 5 is expected to also house a quad-core processor that will most likely use the upcoming Apple iOS 6, which releases this fall.
The iPhone 5 should also come with a 4-inch screen, designed to help it better compete with larger screens Android smartphones usually offer. This would make the device bigger than the iPhone 4S, which has a 3.5-inch screen.
No word on the specifics on the iPhone 5's camera, but considering that the iPhone 4S already comes with an 8 megapixel camera that can also record at 1080p, Apple will probably improve on the design to one-up the Galaxy S3.
The iPhone 5 should also be the first iPhone with 4G LTE support and an NFC chip. The iPhone 5 will almost certainly come with a smaller dock connector that could render current iPhone accessories useless.
Considering that's all we really know about the iPhone 5, and that the Galaxy S3 is a great phone, which one will you be picking up?

iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S3 more than features, while patent war ignites again
Whilst rumor-mongers talk about the iPhone 5 and its features, Samsung Galaxy S3 rakes in more revenue. Meanwhile, multiple sites report Apple and Samsung’s patent war, Google unsurprisingly mentioned.
A new report by NY Times, Wall Street Journal and other sites today reveal that Samsung and Apple’s war is not just in the smartphone market share, and unsurprisingly, the rivalry isuglier in the courtroom.
According to Apple’s trial briefs now available online, search engine giant Google reportedly warned Samsung that the original Samsung Galaxy S, the Galaxy Tab and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 too closely resembled Apple’s iPhone and iPad. The briefs also added that Samsung has planned to copy the original iPhone (the 2007 model).
Meanwhile, Samsung’s trial briefs reveals that Apple “refined other ideas, but borrowed them” citing Sony’s influence on the iPhone and its less-button approach.
Here’s the part of the documents, first, Apple’s briefs:
Samsung’s documents show that Samsung developed and released products that look almost identical to Apple’s, despite repeated warnings that Samsung’s products were too similar.
As part of a formal, Samsung-sponsored evaluation, famous designers warned Samsung that the Galaxy S “looked like it copied the iPhone too much,” and that “innovation is needed.”
The designers explained that the appearance of the Galaxy S “resembles the iPhone shape so as to have no distinguishable elements,” and “[a]ll you have to do is cover up the Samsung logo and it’s difficult to find anything different from the iPhone.”
Here’s a part of Samsung’s:
For good measure, Apple seeks to exclude Samsung from the market, based on its complaints that Samsung has used the very same public domain design concepts that Apple borrowed from other competitors, including Sony, to develop the iPhone. Apple‘s own internal documents show this.
In February 2006, before the claimed iPhone design was conceived of, Apple executive Tony Fadell circulated a news article that contained an interview of a Sony designer to Steve Jobs, Jonathan Ive and others. In the article, the Sony designer discussed Sony portable electronic device designs that lacked excessive ornamentation such as buttons, fit in the hand, were square with a screen and had corners [which] have been rounded out.
Immediately after this article was circulated internally, Apple industrial designer
Shin Nishibori was directed to prepare a Sony-like design for an Apple phone and had CAD
drawings and a three-dimensional model prepared.
Note: We removed the exhibit numbers (because we’re not in a courtroom).
Fierce Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 5 by the end of this year
According to the latest sales numbers and channel checks, Samsung’s Galaxy S3 is outselling the iPhone 4S specifically in AT&T and Verizon Wireless markets. Citing some analysts, reports say the iPhone’s decline in sales is related to rumors about the iPhone 5 which will reportedly arriving by the end of October.
Samsung reportedly achieved 10 million sales within the first 60 days of the Samsung Galaxy S3 in the market, possibly one of the biggest single Android phone sales number to date, beating Samsung’s older phones like the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Samsung Galaxy Note, and of course, the original Galaxy S.
Apart from the Samsung Galaxy S3, Apple’s iPhone 5 might face a new Samsung phone, reportedly called the Galaxy Note 2, giving Samsung an advantage by introducing a “variety.” Samsung’s move is interesting as there was no reason release a new device mainly due to the Samsung Galaxy S3′s early success, but if the Galaxy Note 2 rumors are accurate, then it looks like the South Korean giant is “planning something” to stop Apple and its anticipated Q4 smartphone domination.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 sports a unique design, curved sides, elongated home button, thinner profile, no “hump” and larger display.
Last quarter, an Android-fan blog, Android Police, has accused Samsung of allowing lawyers to design the Samsung Galaxy S3. “This thing is a Samsung lawyer’s dream,” claims Ron Amadeo whilst adding all the small details that Samsung has tweaked including the slopes and angles of the rounded corners down to app icons now with no square backgrounds. He added, “When Apple started patent trolling, they basically admitted they weren’t going to win in an open market, and they decided to drag Samsung down with them. The crazy thing is, Samsung is letting them.”
Now, consumers and tech sites are very excited to see what the iPhone 5 and its widely anticipated “redesign,” and if it is better than Samsung’s.

Samsung promises to fix Galaxy S3 search issue
Samsung will fix a mistake which saw the search function on the Galaxy S3 removed.
The smartphone maker sent a software update to Galaxy S3 owners which accidentally deleted a search interface. Samsung has promised that an update will reinstate the feature to full functionality. See also: Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Apple iPhone 5 comparison review.
It was originally thought that Samsung had disabled the search on the basis that Apple claimed it infringed one of its US patents.
Samsung said: "The most recent software upgrade for the Galaxy S3 in the UK included the inadvertent removal of the universal search function. Samsung will provide the correct software upgrade within the next few days."
Users who downloaded and updated their handsets were not warned that it would remove the advanced search function.
Samsung only meant to prevent some US devices from being able to use the Google-powered search to show information sourced from the phone's memory in the results, according to the BBC.

Apple iPhone 4S Vs Samsung Galaxy S3: What Suits Power Users?
The iPhone 4S is Apple’s top of the line smartphone with a close to 96% satisfaction rate. Another smartphone that has been gaining considerable amount of media attention is Samsung Galaxy S3, which has flourished to be one of the most popular Android smartphone. It is currently sailing high with positive reviews and good sales figures. Nonetheless, iPhone 4S puts up an equally good competition when pitched against Samsung Galaxy S3 in all possible ways.
A JP Morgan estimate informs that Samsung Galaxy S3 sold 6.5 million Galaxy S3 devices in Q2. HI Investment & Securities senior analyst Song Myung Sub told Reuters recently he expects Samsung to sell 15 million Galaxy S3 phones in the next quarter (Q2). It indeed proves beyond a shadow of doubt that the Korean giant is breaking grounds with Apple in the smartphone war.
Now speaking of iPhone, after US it is China which is the second largest market for the smartphone consumption. Apple sold over 5 million iPhones in first quarter, courtesy Gartner. Apple iPhone 4S is available in more than 100 countries and close to 230 carriers. The introduction of Apple iPhone 4S helped take the company’s iPhone sales to 33.1 million units in the first quarter, whereas the second quarter of 2012 saw only 26 million iPhone units being shipped. The disappointing sales of iPhone in second quarter is attributed to the rumors on the upcoming sixth generation iPhone. The figures speaks the volume of both Apple and Samsung. In fact Apple and Samsung now represent nearly half of all smartphones sold globally.
Here is a look at how Apple iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S3 fairs against each other.
Display:
Apple iPhone 4S has LED-backlit IPS TFT display with oleophobic coating which repels fingerprint oil. The LED-backlit IPS TFT display found in iPhone 4S age slower as the brightness and color balances well for use of thousands of hours. With 330 ppi sharpness and RGB layout in it’s screen, iPhone 4S has the brightness advantage over Super AMOLED. On the other hand Samsung’s Galaxy S3 has Super AMOLED displays that uses the company’s Pentile matrix sub-pixel design. In fact Super-AMOLED’s have better lifetime and contrast than iPhone’s display. Moreover, Super AMOLED displays has bluish hue that overcasts the screen whereas iPS-LCD found in iPhone 4S brings out more natural colors. The HD 1280 x 700 pixel makes up for the flaws in Galaxy S3 whereas iPhone 4S with 640 x 960 pixel resolution stays equally close to Sammy’s device. As far as protection is considered, both the screens have Corning Gorilla glass to protect the display from scratches.
Samsung Galaxy S3 is highly praised for its 4.8-inch display and is a great hit among users. Some doubts loom over the smaller 3.5-inch screen found in iPhone 4S as bigger screens are turning to be a real crowd puller. However that is not the case according to Piper Jaffray’s analyst Gene Munster. According to the conducted survey, based on two unlabeled scale drawings of an iPhone and a Droid Razr Maxx (4.3-inch display), 56% respondents preferred the smaller screen of iPhone. This proves that users who are familiar with smaller screen displays may not prefer bigger ones. This makes Galaxy S3 and iPhone 4S stand sturdy in their respective divisions.
Processor:
Samsung Galaxy S3 has quad-core processor and some variants feature dual-core processor. While iPhone 4S comes with dual-core CPU. It is to be noted that the improvement in performance gained by the use of a multi-core processor depends very much on the software algorithms used and their implementation. More cores doesn’t mean faster speed, however it does affect multi-tasking.
Speaking on multi-tasking, the word better suites the 10-inch above screen division occupied by tablets. Smartphones which comes with smaller displays need more speedy performance than multi-tasking effort. Moreover, quad-core has its own disadvantages when in use. Apart from operating system adjustments and existing application software changes, the ability of multi-core processors to increase application performance depends on the use of multiple threads within applications.
Apple iPhone 4S with its eco-system holds an absolute edge as the company manufactures its own OS and hardware. It shows that Apple can modify their software codes in such a way that advanced processors famously found in other big Android phones doesn’t have a major role to play in terms of speed. Hence the usage in Apple iPhone 4S looks silky smooth and provides blazing fast speeds while using different applications. Pinch to zoom is an unmatchable feature found in the device.
Operating System:
Samsung Galaxy S3 features Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Backed by world’s number one mobile OS platform, Android, the device makes customization and tweaks look easy. Apple on the other hand opts for simplicity and users get what they require, whereas Android offering tweaks make users search for functions which can be annoying at times.
Android OS holds advantage in terms of turn-by-turn voice navigation, Google services, camera tools, NFC support, openness, facial unlocking and Android Beam. Apple iOS 5 graces itself with music integration, App Store, iTunes, iMessage, iCloud, Siri and FaceTime.
Camera:
It is disappointing to see Samsung using Galaxy S2 sensor in their latest flagship device. Experts judge that iPhone 4S camera is better than Galaxy S2. However, that does not mean Galaxy S3 camera is bad. It is only a familiar hardware used with improved software optimization.
Galaxy S3 advantages over iPhone 4S:
Samsung Galaxy S3 has twice the RAM capacity, is slightly thinner, lighter, distinctly with more battery power, more megapixel secondary camera, bigger display with higher resolution, faster downloads, smaller semdiconductor and faster CPU clock speed. The well known features only found in Galaxy S3 which iPhone 4S doesn’t have is free navigation software, Adobe flash, charging through standard USB cable, wireless charging, removable battery, HDMI output, microSD slot, DLNA and NFC.
iPhone 4S advantages over Galaxy S3:
Apple’s flagship handset has less body volume, narrow body, shorter, higher pixel density, faster uploads, more internal storage option, direct updates from OS vendor, more apps and a dedicated camera button.
Flaws reported in Galaxy S3:
Various flaws reported on the Korean giant’s device include malfunction in microphone, battery drain issue, overheating and signal dropping while using Wi-Fi.
Flaws reported in iPhone 4S:
Apple iPhone 4S experiences reduced battery life, not able to connect efficiently to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connection failure and Siri related complaints.
Conclusively, both the handsets are marginally close and has its own drawbacks and gains. Apple iPhone 4S certainly has shown itself to be a worthy competitor for Galaxy S3. Although Galaxy S3 has flaws, the handset’s features and specs does give iPhone 4S a run for its money. Moreover, during drop tests Galaxy S3 proved to be more sturdy piece than iPhone 4S.

Google Nexus 7 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7: Google’s Debut a Winner?
The Google Nexus 7 is a lightweight HD display tablet, with a quad-core processor and a front-facing camera, which Patrick Brady, the Director of Android Partner Engineering for Google, thinks can beat the Amazon Kindle Fire. In an interview with CNET, Brady revealed the team began working on thetablet in January.
"We wanted to build something inexpensive, but not cheap. It had to have fast processor and great screen resolution that our developers would want to use it. And we were looking to build a device that could showcase our digital content. We have built the biggest ebook store and we have got movies in Google Play. We have added TV and magazines. So we really wanted the perfect device to consume all of this and thought the 7in tablet was a good size," Brady explained.
The Google Nexus 7 runs Android's latest software - 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and should release in US, UK, Canadian and Australian markets in July.
Check out how the Google Nexus 7 does against the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7
Display: The Samsung Galaxy Tab features a 7.7in Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen. The display has TouchWiz UX User Interface (UI) and a resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels with a pixel density of 196 pixels per inch (ppi). The Galaxy Tab 7.7 has higher display resolution and pixel density compared to Samsung's other two 7in tablets - the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. In addition, the tablet offers an impressive viewing angle. A display test by GSMArena revealed the Galaxy Tab 7.7 outshone both aforementioned 7in tablets and even the company's 10.1in model, the iPad 2and a few more. In fact, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 scored only slightly less than the Galaxy S2.
Google's Nexus 7 features a 7in LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen which is protected by scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass. The resolution of the display, like the Galaxy Tab, is 800 x 1280 pixels. It has a higher pixel density - 216 ppi - which is still less than Apple's new iPad.
Dimension: The Galaxy Tab 7.7 measures 196.7 x 133 x 7.9mm whereas the Nexus 7 measures 198.5 x 120 x 10.45mm. Both tablets weigh 340g, making them lighter than their 7in rivals.
Operating System: The Galaxy Tab 7.7 was launched with Android 3.2 (Honeycomb). There are plans to upgrade the OS to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS)), sometime in August.
The Nexus 7 will run Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and will be the first such device. The software update will bring a revamped User Interface (UI) and a better notifications system and home screen management, as well as an improved voice search, text input with offline voice typing, camera and enhanced Android Beam app.
Both tablets pack 1GB of RAM.
Processor: The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is powered by an Exynos dual-core Cortex-A9 chip clocked at 1.4GHz. The Nexus 7 will run on Nvidia's Tegra 3 quad-core processor which has a clock speed of 1.3GHz.
There are numerous benchmark tests on the web that suggest the latter is as powerful as Samsung's dual-core Exynos processor.
Camera: The Galaxy Tab 7.7 sports a 3.15 megapixel primary camera with auto-focus, LED flash and geo-tagging. The camera can record video in 720p at 30 frames per second (fps). The device also features a secondary camera of two megapixels.
The Google Nexus 7 will pack a 1.2 megapixel primary camera for video-calling. The camera can record video in 720p. The device will come without a secondary camera.
Connectivity: The Galaxy Tab 7.7 offers Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, dual-band, Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP. The tablet supports data speed up to HSDPA 21Mbps and HSUPA 5.76Mbps.
The Nexus 7 will offer Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth (the version is unknown) and Near Field Communication (NFC).
Incidentally, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 offers 3G connectivity and Google's does not.
Storage: The Galaxy Tab 7.7 comes in three memory configurations - 16/32/64GB - with microSD card support for additional storage. The Nexus 7 will have two models 8/16GB and without an option for storage expansion.
Battery: The Galaxy Tab 7.7 runs on a Li-Po 5100mAh unit, which can provide power for 12 hours on 2G and 11 hours on 3G networks. A test by GSMArenashows the Galaxy Tab 7.7 beats devices like the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, the Galaxy Note and S2, HTC's Sensation XL and Apple's iPhone 4S.
The Nexus 7 will be powered by a Li-ion 4325mAh battery. The battery, Google claims, will provide nine hours of HD video playback and 10 hours of browsing and e-reading.
A battery test by Engadget, however, shows the Nexus 7 runs for slightly under ten hours but still manages to beat the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700, the Motorola Xoom 2, the Toshiba Excite 10 and a few more devices. It scored less than the Galaxy Tab 7.7 though.

Siri on iOS 6 beta 2 vs. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
One reason a number of people bought an iPhone 4S had been for Siri, even if some upgraders felt that the 4S didn’t equal the iPhone 5 they were expecting, but it now seems that Google is bringing Siri like features to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The difference between these two voice command features is up for debate, and we have included a video below this article that compares both the betas.
Siri on iOS 6 beta 2 has some amazing improvements, which will provide a lot more diversity and expanded abilities for Siri, but this has been compared to the new “Google Now” search feature on Jelly Bean. The video reviewer is certainly bias towards Android 4.1, and states that Google’s offering is much faster and sounds more human-like. Hit the comments after watching the video and let us know if you agree with the video creator.
Earlier on this week we looked at the upcoming Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update and the release date expected somewhere in the middle of July. We have included a second video below this article that looks at the first device running the next major Android OS, which is the Nexus 7 tablet and this video also gives you a quick taste of the features you should expect within Android 4.1. The first video came by way of iPhone Rumors although these guys obviously support the iOS platform.
The best for voice commands: Siri on iOS 6 beta 2 or Google Voice Search (aka Google Now) on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean? You can see the official Google Now video in the third video below, which clearly explains what Google are aiming for with their new voice search.

Apple vs. Samsung: Dueling before-and-after stories
FORTUNE -- The image at right, taken from the pretrial brief Apple (AAPL) filed on Tuesday, represents the story the company wants the jury to hear: That Samsung's idea of what a mobile phone should look like underwent a sudden and permanent transformation in January 2007, when Steve Jobs unveiled the first iPhone.
The image below, from Samsung's brief, tells a very different story. It shows 10 different touchscreen phones under internal development in the summer of 2006, one of which -- the F700 -- was, according to Samsung, the subject of a Korean design registration application in Dec. 2006, a month before the iPhone's debut.
We can't know ahead of time which story the jury will find most persuasive. But billions dollars -- and Samsung's right to sell Android devices in the U.S. market -- could be at stake.

iPhone Straight Up vs iPhone Smart plans
Hot on the heels of Cell C’s launch of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, Vodacom announced that it would start offering the iPhone on its new Smart Plans.
These new deals from Vodacom are somewhat cheaper than the iPhone-specific contracts that preceded them, though they tend to include less data. The old iPhone Talk 120 and Talk 250 contracts in particular have 100 SMSes and 500MB data bundles with them.
However, Cell C offers 300MB additional data on their Straight Up contracts for iPhones, which trounces Vodacom’s previous iPhone contract offerings.
Vodacom’s new Smart Plans for iPhone offer better competition to Cell C, but a direct comparison remains tricky due to the complexity of Vodacom’s contracts.
While Cell C offers only anytime minutes, Vodacom includes promotional airtime for Vodacom-to-Vodacom (on-net) calls, as well as “More weekend” minutes that are only valid on Saturdays and Sundays when making calls to other Vodacom subscribers.
It is worth noting that Cell C lets subscribers opt for top-up over an open contract at no extra cost, as well as choose contract lengths shorter than 24 months. There are exceptions, however, which are indicated with an asterisk in the comparison below:

Another complex element of Vodacom’s contracts are their out-of-bundle costs. Cell C offers equal peak and off-peak rates that remain the same regardless of which contract you’re on, whereas Vodacom’s rates change with the different packages.
Vodacom also charges different per-minute prices for voice calls depending on whether it is to a different network, as shown in the table below:
