Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 5: Does Apple Have A Shot?
The iPhone 5 is not too far away from being released now as it is thought that the release date will be in the fall. Will it be able to match up to the Samsung Galaxy S3 which is one of the fastest selling Android devices of 2012?
Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 5
So just what will the iPhone 5 have to match up to? Well there is of course the stunning 4.8 inch Super AMOLED screen of the Samsung Galaxy S3. This is 1280 x 720 HD with 310 pixels per inch. It has been rumored that the iPhone 5 will be revealed with a screen of around 4 inches and it may have a resolution of 1280 x 720 with 367 ppi and the Retina display that Apple are famous for. While this is more ppi than the S3 does the naked eye really need any more than 310 ppi?
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a Snapdragon dual core 1.5GHz processor in the US and it is thought that the iPhone 5 may have the A5X processor. With Apple sticking with a dual-core processor in the New iPad 3 to make it compatible with LTE, we may see the same dual-core setup in the iPhone 5.
When it was released the Samsung Galaxy S3 came with the latest operating system ICS Android 4.0. This of course doesn't hold true anymore with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean already announced. The iPhone 5 of course should have iOS 6 which is the latest from Apple. Right now the iPhone 5 is the winner as it is guaranteed to continue receiving the latest updates even until an iPhone 6 is announced. The same can't be said about the Samsung Galaxy S3.
The camera of the Galaxy S3 is 8 megapixels with zero shutter lag. However rumor has it that the iPhone 5 may have a 3D camera for photos and video. But 3D has not been as popular as manufacturers had hoped, this has been proven with the HTC EVO 3D.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage and this can be boosted by another 64GB with a MicroSD card. The iPhone is thought to be having similar choices of internal storage but will not support SD cards just like all other Apple iOS devices.
In terms of features the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with S Voice, S Beam, Smart Stay and Pop up Play. The iPhone 5 would have Siri 2.0, Universal Remote Control and Face Unlock along with around 200 new features which were announced at WWDC 2012 for iOS 6.
Of course the bottom line when it comes to which handset is the best for you all depends on what you want out of a phone. At the moment the Galaxy S3 is the handset to beat and Apple's iPhone 5 sure has its work cut out for it.
