iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2: Which One’s For You

Smartphone buyers are spoilt for choice at the moment. There’s the Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X and very soon the upcoming Galaxy Note 2 and iPhone 5. While we’ve already compared the former two, let’s see how the latter two stand up against each other, keeping in mind that the mentioned iPhone 5 specs are still unconfirmed. iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (comparison) Samsung has announced the Galaxy Note 2, and we know that its got a 5.5” HD Super AMOLED display. It also seems like the iPhone 5 will have the 4” screen that Apple fans have been waiting for. Some smartphone users will love the 5.5” Note 2 and others will prefer the portability of the iPhone 5. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has a 1.6GHz Exynos quad-core chip and an impressive 3,100mAh battery to fuel that screen. It’s thought that the iPhone 5 will also be quad-core. A common iPhone 4 and 4S complaint is the battery life, and some leaked patents point to Apple investigating ideas that might give this latest handset more life. Prospective Note 2 owners will be able to choose from 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage options, as well as microSD card support for up to 64GB. iPhone users? 64GB and a cloud. Hmm. On to cameras. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has an 8MP rear camera and a 1.9MP front. The iPhone 4S also has an 8MP offering, with rumors saying the iPhone 5 will stay at 8MP but with 3D capability. We’ll see. The Note 2 will have an improved S-Pen facility that lets users interact with the phone and its content in lots of new ways. We have no idea what new trickery the iPhone 5 will bring but don’t expect to use anything more than your fingers. Samsung has said that the Note 2 will be released into certain areas of Europe in October, but hasn’t given a definite date for the US yet. This might give Apple the advantage, as the iPhone 5 will be out and about by then if rumors serve true (late September – early October). It will, however, give open-minded customers the chance to have a look at the iPhone 5 before deciding what to go for. Many buyers will make their choices based on personal preference, and whether they want pocket-sized or not. Stylus or not. Android or iOS. What are you going to do?
