iPhone 5 rumors: Large display, new CPU, NFC & 4G LTE expected
Rumors about the next generation iPhone 5 are spreading like wildfire. The new iPhone will come with large display, new CPU, NFC and 4G LTE
Apple’s next-gen iPhone 5 is rumored for release in the second half of 2012. Apple is yet to announce the specs, features and exact release date of the highly anticipated handset. However, we are sure that iPhone 5 will primarily stifle Samsung’s new Galaxy S III. Apple fans across the world are anxiously waiting for the next version of the smart-phone. As per recent reports from UK and other markets, sales of iPhone 4S have recently gone down. Moreover, the iPhone 4S is actually a replication of the 2010’s iPhone 4, one of the world’s most popular consumer electronics products. People are waiting for iPhone 5 because they think it will come with a completely new form factor and design.
Design
The mobile world has changed entirely from the time we got the first iPhone in 2007. However, Apple continued to launch its flagship iPhone handset in the same design. Until the iPhone 4S, we have an identical form factor for all versions of the handset. As of now, most top-notch handsets in the market have large from factors and big displays. The iPhone series still comes with a 3.5-inch display and small size. The tech world is looking forward for a total change in the scenario with the next iPhone version. But right now have no idea of the possible dimensions of the upcoming iPhone. As per rumors, we have enough reason to believe that Apple will entirely change the form and design of its new iPhone.
Display size
After the iPhone 4S, we have received a lot of Android handsets such as HTC One X, Galaxy Nexus and Samsung Galaxy S III. At a glance, we can see that all these devices have large displays. On the contrary, the iPhone 4S has a small and crammed 3.5-inch display. Apple should bring out the next iPhone with a large display; otherwise the company will face critical challenge in the market from Android and Windows smartphones. Though it doesn’t need to be enormous like the Galaxy Note’s 5.3-inch display, but the size should become bigger. At least, it should have a 4-inch display.
As per rumors, the new iPhone will possibly have a 4-inch Retina Display. One such source even went on to state that a big display will be the major selling point of the handset. Indeed, with a 4-plus inch display, users will embrace the device as they did it earlier. And iPhone 5 can beat all Android handsets including the latest Samsung Galaxy S III.
Processor
It is understandable that Apple will be upgrading its iPhone 5 with a quad core A6-based CPU. Given the fact that the market has lots of quad-core phones including the One X and Galaxy S III, the next iPhone will have a more powerful processing unit. Indeed, as per rumors, the device will have an A6 processor built into TSMC’s 28nm process. If the rumor is true, the iPhone 5 will directly compete with devices that have Qualcomm’s S4 Snapdragon, Samsung’s Exynos Quad, Nvidia’s Tegra 3 or other advanced chips. Thanks to the improved CPU, iPhone 5 will feature improved battery life, better power efficiency, better wireless radio-support, cool operating temperatures and several other advantages, analysts think.
Other features
Apart from above features, the new iPhone will come with several other advanced features. The handset will possibly have a completely new UI interface thanks to the new iOS 6, which was announced at the WWDC 2012. Maybe, the handset will feature an SD card slot thus users can increase memory of the device using external memory sticks. Other much awaited features on the handset are Near Field Communication (NFC) and 4G LTE connectivity. Both are necessary for a handset to face the challenges in the market.
