Samsung Galaxy Nexus Vs. Apple iPhone 4S: Head-to-Head Comparison
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Apple iPhone 4S may have been around for several months, but wouldn’t it still be nice to compare both of these top sellers to see which one is better?
Though it will always come down to the consumer in terms of personal preference, let’s see nonetheless which device has the better specifications.
Looking at the design of both handsets, we prefer the curves of the Galaxy Nexus to those on the iPhone 4S. Furthermore, the Galaxy Nexus is a bit lighter, at 0.31 pounds versus the iPhone 4S’ 0.37 pounds. The Galaxy Nexus also has the larger, higher-quality screen – 4.65 inches with 1280 x 720 resolution, as opposed to the iPhone 4S’ 3.6 inches and 960 x 640.
It’s almost even in terms of processing power, but the Galaxy Nexus has the slightly better one, with its 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A9 dual-core. The iPhone 4S contains a 1.0 GHz A5 chipset. Both smartphones contain 1 GB RAM and support GSM, 3G and UMTS.
Camera quality favors Apple, as the iPhone 4S comes with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera at the back with LED flash. The Galaxy Nexus has been panned for its mediocre camera quality – 5 megapixels for the rear camera.
Finally, we’re going with the Galaxy Nexus given its eventual upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Google Now and the almost self-explanatory Project Butter (for smoother animations) are enough reason for us to give this one to Samsung, even if the iPhone 4S’ iOS 5 comes with voice recognition system Siri. The Galaxy Nexus also has the better battery – 1730 mAh versus 1430 mAh.
Based on this comparison, the Galaxy Nexus has the better specs, but we’ll see whether Apple could catch up with Samsung when it releases its new iPhone later this year.
