Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 4S vs HTC One X pricing comparison

A price war is underway among South Africa’s mobile network operators, with Cell C and Vodacom trading punches in both the pre-paid and contract arenas. After introducing price plans with a single 99c per minute call rate, Cell C announced its new “Straight Up” contracts in early June 2012. These new contracts from Cell C were launched on 22 June 2012 and offered any-time voice minutes, SMS and MMS messages, and data in an easy-to-understand structure. Vodacom responded by launching its own all-in-one “Smart Plans” on 7 July 2012, though the structure of the network’s offering was somewhat more complex than that of Cell C’s “Straight Up” contracts. With these new packages on the market, it is interesting to see how the prices of the high-end smartphones compare on South Africa’s cellular service providers. Where the iPhone 4S is generally more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy S3 or the HTC One X on MTN, some iPhones are available for cheaper than the Galaxy S3 and One X on Vodacom and Cell C. As shown above, Cell C’s website does not indicate that it has the HTC One X available.
